Honorary patron

Samantha Bond

Little Theatre Company is thrilled to have one of our country’s leading actors as its Honorary Patron.

With a body of work that spans James Bond 007 to the Royal Shakespeare Company and Downton Abbey to Rumpole of the Bailey, plus a wealth of stage, screen and TV appearances in between, LTC feels very honoured to welcome Samantha Bond as LTC Honorary Patron.

What makes this all the more special is Sam’s connection to our home town. Here are a few words from Sam:-

My grandmother Blodwen (née John) Bond was a midwife in Burton from the mid 1930's. My father Philip, his twin Shirley and elder brother Ivor all grew up in Burton and I still have cousins in the town!

Of course, Sam’s father, Philip Bond had a real connection with our company in that he started his theatrical journey at the Burton School of Speech and Drama, treading the Little Theatre boards before moving onto his professional career. Philip carved out a very successful career but probably most of you will remember him from “The Onedin Line” in the early 1970s.
